KIPP DC Lead Academy, located at our Shaw Campus, educates children in grades 1 through 4. Our elementary schools prepare students with the foundational academic skills and mindsets that are necessary for success in rigorous and joyful middle schools. At KIPP DC, we commit to providing students with academic excellence, joy and sense of belonging, highly effective teachers and leaders, safe and nurturing learning environments, and a commitment to college readiness. Upon completion of 4th grade, Lead students move onto KIPP DC WILL Academy on the same campus.

• Lead Academy is a National Blue Ribbon School recipient!
• Lead uses a House system to build collaboration amongst our grade levels and between staff and kids. All staff and students are sorted into a House and we celebrate weekly with House Parties, House Meetings, and Fun Friday!
• Lead's mascot is the Lead Llama, voted on by our students during the 2022 mid-term elections! We love to engage our students' voices and we celebrate a Llama of the Week in each grade weekly!
