KIPP DC Valor Academy, located at our Smilow Campus, educates children in grades 5 through 8. Our middle schools prepare students with the foundational academic skills and mindsets that are necessary for success in rigorous and joyful high schools. At KIPP DC, we commit to providing students with academic excellence, joy and sense of belonging, highly effective teachers and leaders, safe and nurturing learning environments, and a commitment to college readiness. Upon completion of 8th grade, Valor students are automatically admitted to KIPP DC Legacy College Preparatory with the option of going to KIPP DC College Preparatory.

• Valor is a community school where staff collaborate with families to ensure Valor Warriors set, meet and exceed their goals. Students also develop life skills through the school's values: HONOR, Excellence, Advocacy, Restoration and Tribe (H.E.A.R.T.)
• Students are engaged in a diverse curriculum of not only English, math, history, and science classes, but also STEM, theater, art, and physical education.
• Valor had one of the highest reductions in chronic absenteesim during the 23-24 school year in the city, which highlights a strong sense of belonging and commitment to academic excellence.
